Verdi, ZDS reach agreement after five rounds of negotiations

Hamburg-based Buss Group has sold its Safelox arm to steel and chemicals industries logistics specialist Lehnkering, for an undisclosed price
The service portfolio of Buss Safelox includes warehouse and logistics services for the chemical, pharmaceutical and cosmetics industries and the compamy is considered to be one of the market leaders in Northern Germany.
“This acquisition is part of our strategy to expand our market position in warehouse logistics for the chemical industry in Germany and Central Europe,” said Uwe Willhaus, COO of Duisburg-based Lehnkering GmbH. Willhaus is responsible for Lehnkering’s Distribution Logistics & Services (DLS) division.
Hamburg is among Europe’s most important transhipment centres for chemical goods and the 30,000 m2 of storage space, spread over three locations, will be used mainly by Lehnkering’s international customers for import and distribution.
Buss Group says it is separating from Safelox to concentrate on its core competencies in ports activities, real estate and capital. “Buss has its origin in the Port of Hamburg and has diversified its business activities,” said Dr Johann Killinger, CEO of Buss Group. Our business units Buss Ports, Ixocon and Buss Capital benefit from strong synergies.
