NewsRailrunner Europe GmbH has filed for insolvency with the Hamburg District Court and Susanne Riedemann of law firm Prof Dr Pannen Rechtsanwälte has been appointed as liquidator
Road connectivity problems are already causing deepsea container flows to be diverted from Britain’s two base ports, Felixstowe and Southampton, to the continent, for feedering to ports such as Teesport, Liverpool and Bristol.
As congestion can only be expected to get worse, the “B&Q effect” (WorldCargo News, May 2002, p12), is likely to spread. But could more coastwise feeder services be set up which retain the home base port calls? And are they more likely to take traffic from rail rather than from the road?
