NewsFour ZPMC STS cranes are en route to Baltic Hub as construction of Project T3 ramps up.
Bharat Mumbai Container Terminals Pte Ltd (BMCT), a wholly owned subsidiary of PSA International Pte Ltd, has ordered 18 RTGs and four RMGs, with an option for 18 more RTGs, from Terex Port Solutions (TPS).
All the Noell-type machines will be built at TPS’s plant in Xiamen, China. BMCT will be the second Indian subsidiary of PSA to operate cranes from TPS. In 2015, four RTGs were put into operation by Bharat Kolkata Container Terminals Pte Ltd.
The RMGs are for BMCT’s rail yard, which works doublestack trains up to 1,500m long, and will be delivered in September 2017.
The RTGs will be handed over in three batches of six between September and November 2017. They are 16-wheelers with an SWL of 40t and stacking 6+1 (23.7m span) and 1-over-5 x 9ft 6in high (18.1m lift height). They will be equipped with variable speed generators to reduce idling fuel consumption, with fuel savings of up to one third, depending on site and operating conditions.
The RMGs will be electrically driven, and have a 37.6m span covering six rail tracks. SWL is 65t (twin 20 spreader) and lift height is 12.5m (1-over-3). They are double-cantilever, with each cantilever covering two truck lanes, and are also equipped with a rotating trolley.
Separately, TPS has reported an order from Malaysian port operator Sabah Ports Sdn Bhd for two 41t-45m (15-wide) STS gantry cranes for Sapangar Bay Container Port (SBCP). The cranes will be manufactured in Xiamen, and are due to be put into operation in H2 2017.
Earlier this year TPS delivered a Terex Gottwald MHC and two Terex reach stackers to Sabah Ports, for the Port of Sandakan and the Port of Tawau. Between 2005 and 2008, Gottwald supplied four MHCs to Sabah Ports for Sandakan and Tawau. These machines supplemented the three mobile harbour cranes already purchased by Sabah Ports, one for Sandakan in 2005 and two for Tawau in 2005 and in 2008. Additionally, four Terex RTGs have been delivered to SBCP.
