Houston in expansion mode
NewsPort Houston is preparing for bigger ships and higher cargo volumes. Eventually, Pelican Island is a possible option to accommodate future growth.
As the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach pursue a strategy of zero-emission cargo handling equipment by 2030 (see “San Pedro diesel count”, p1), the 2015 Air Emissions Inventory reports from the two San Pedro Bay ports identify 3,278 pieces of “CHE” (cargo handling equipment), a figure that includes container handling equipment, forklifts, bulldozers, sweepers and general loaders.
