Russian numbers

Transcontainer, Russian Railways’ intermodal arm, has reported that the Russian rail container market grew 8.2% year-on-year in the first nine months of 2016 to 2.368M TEU, with exports up 5.2%, imports down by 0.6%, transit traffic up by 7.2%, and domestic shipments up by 13%.

The volume carried in Transcontainer’s containers on its own and third-party flatcars increased 7.3% in Q1-Q3 to 1.118M TEU. For the nine month period, EBITDA increased by 13.7% year-on-year to RUB5.298B, and profit for the period grew by 37.2% year-on-year to RUB2.641B.
