ICF blasts traction providers

Pan-European intermodal rail operator Intercontainer-Interfrigo (ICF) has blamed its 10 percent traffic fall last year (by 76,000 TEU) on “cannibalisation” by other operators, particularly on the Scandinavia –Italy and Sweden–Belgium routes, and “the persistently poor, and on some routes disastrous, quality of traction services” it received. Both of these problems may be read as a warning to the EU authorities that rail liberalisation is not working.
