Earlier in the year, Patrick closed its straddle carrier terminal at Port Botany for four days and then re-opened the facility as an automated terminal, something the industry has never seen before.

Australia’s Patrick has completed the conversion of its Port Botany terminal to an automated straddle carrier operation.

Asciano’s ports and terminals subsidiary, Patrick, says the transition of its Port Botany container facility to semi-automation will be postponed until the first quarter of 2015 after a shipment of Kalmar AutoStrads was damaged en route to Australia (see page 38).
