The River Hopper service, intended as an innovative way of supplying bottled and canned beer and soft drinks to Dutch supermarkets (see WorldCargo News January 2004, p13), has been “temporarily” halted. River Hopper, the “sailing logistics” heart of the Distrivaart project, is now just an ordinary container barge.
