Indian ministerial approval for Wadhawan
A new port at Wadhawan that could cost close to US$9B to develop has been approved by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Wadhawan is located on the border of the states of Maharashtra and Gujarat, and between Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT - 160 km to the southeast) and Mundra. These are among the biggest container ports in India, with throughputs in excess of 5M TEU and 3.5M TEU a year, respectively.
