With Mainsail 10 Tideworks enables customers improved access to real-time data on their entire operation, including cargo at the gate, in the yard and on vessels or rail cars. Mainsail 10’s interactive search tool also allows users to quickly find information and sort data as granularly as needed. Users can search for information regarding appointments, bookings, equipment, gate transactions and cargo to name a few functions.

Additionally, users can generate reports on-demand for comparative data analysis or for real-time data visibility into any aspect of their operations and export these into the format of their choice. This enables users to take full control of their data and use it for any reconciliation required. “One way to do that is by using dynamic recaps, which allows users to create a customizable summary of data and the ability to control how their data is visualized. We developed Mainsail 10 to be action-driven, so users can discover the data they need quickly and easily launch a desired action,” explained Tideworks.

To improve integration with third party applications, Tidework’s TOS uses real-time message and RESTful API calls, which gives it flexibility to integrate with “virtually any third-party application”, the company said. “Additionally, we have developed TUG – Tideworks Unified Gateway, which is a growing library of third-party APIs. TUG handles all the internal integrations with Tideworks systems. The TUG API is divided into different modules that apply to differing systems such as position detection systems, automated equipment, RFID, OCR, etc. Mainsail 10 is able to leverage TUG’s capabilities to support third-party integrations”.

While Tideworks does not have a formal testing and accreditation programme for third-party applications, it does vet integrations as they go through its testing process, and integration certification is performed on a “per-customer basis”.

Mainsail 10 also improves functionality for managing ro-ro cargo and billing processes. For ro-ro cargo, the previous Mainsail container a module for managing all aspects of ro-ro cargo, has been retained, with upgrades to provide terminal operators a more streamline and simplified process for configuring and controlling their particular operations.

Tideworks offers an innovative way to handle different areas of the terminal in Mainsail 10 without the need for separate billing systems. “The billing charges are based on services and include both event-based services and accruing services. As each event is logged by the system, the billing service automatically creates a charge and finds the appropriate contract rate. Terminal operators can therefore see exactly how much revenue a particular container is generating during its stay at the terminal,” said Tideworks.

Tideworks also offers Blackfin, which it described as a “multi-tenanted billing product that can integrate with any terminal operating system solution via APIs and messaging”. Blackfin is a product built on a micro service architecture that can be deployed on premise or in the cloud. It comes with all the features of the billing service in Mainsail 10, and adds the ability to centrally manage billing needs across multiple facilities in a single location.

Mainsail 10 has gone live at Manzanillo International Container Terminal in Panama.
