Cyber incident at Grendi Group

News

Italy’s Grendi Group has reported a cyber-attack on its IT systems stemming from a malicious email attachment.

Gruppo Grendi is an Italian shipping, ports operator and logistics company. In a statement the company said: “On June 12th between 11am and 1pm, we detected a cyber-attack on our systems. In fact, emails were automatically generated from the costanza.musso@grendi.it mailbox containing a malicious link.

“We would like to reassure you that, thanks to our security systems and the timely actions of our technical team, we managed to contain the attack and avoid consequences. At this time, there is no evidence to indicate a breach of personal or business data of our customers and suppliers.”

WorldCargo News understands the cyber-attack came through a malicious email attachment that was sent to Costanza Musso, who is the CEO of Grendi Logistica Srl. Once the incident was discovered Grendi moved quickly to isolate the compromised systems, conduct a thorough security audit to identify that there had been no data breaches, and update its security measure to prevent future attacks.

“The security of your data and the continuity of our service are our top priority. We will continue to monitor the situation carefully and will keep you informed of any significant developments.

“We remind you of the importance of keeping your security systems updated and adopting good password management practices. If you have any questions or require further information, please do not hesitate to contact us,” Grendi concluded.
