Magna Tyres has launched a new tyre size for straddle carriers, the 450/95R25 Magna M-STRADDLE Tyre. The new addition complements the company’s existing M-Straddle tyres in the 16.00R25 and 480/95R25 sizes.

Speaking at this year’s TOC Europe in Rotterdam, Marzia Mendini, Sales Manager for Italy and OEM, told WorldCargo News that the new tyre boasts a higher load capacity (15t), which customers were asking for. The tyre features a unique zero-degree belt design, which results in lower heat generation and a 20% longer lifespan.

Other enhancements include an optimised curve of the tread pattern and an altered width for an improved footprint. These adjustments minimise stress and deformation, significantly extending tyre life. The tyre maintains its steel radial construction with heavy-duty sidewalls, ensuring a comfortable and solid performance.

Over the last few years, availability has been a key issue in OTR tyres. Magna Tyres has strategically diversified its production risk by operating six production facilities globally. This distribution has enabled the company to maintain stability and continue fulfilling orders when there are supply chain disruptions.

With regard to the current market, “The situation in the tyre industry is stable, although not easy,” Mendini said. “We are well-prepared with a good stock in the Netherlands and can meet all customer needs in Europe.”

In addition to the M-STRADDLE, Magna Tyres has introduced its first Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).

The TPMS employs a sensor connected to a gateway inside the vehicle’s cabin via Bluetooth. This setup allows for continuous monitoring of tyre pressure, temperature, and geolocation data, which is then transmitted to the cloud. Consequently, operators can track the location and condition of all tyres, ensuring round-the-clock oversight.

The system is compatible with mobile devices, allowing users to access crucial data remotely. This capability helps prevent excessive wear and damage through proactive monitoring, Mendini explained.
