SeaCube Containers has placed an order for 3,000 Carrier Transicold OptimaLINE refrigerated containers.
SeaCube Containers LLC has placed an order for 3,000 containers with Carrier Transicold’s OptimaLINE machinery, making it the first major container leasing company to acquire the systems.
“Given the evolving sustainability requirements and rising operating costs, we sought a reefer solution that offered the flexibility to adapt to new and changing demands,” said Bob Sappio, CEO of SeaCube. “OptimaLINE proved to be the perfect choice. It enhances fuel efficiency for sustainable operation while also helping to reduce operating expenses for our customers.”
OptimaLINE features a variable speed compressor with a permanent magnet motor and a variable frequency drive, engineered to optimise energy consumption, enhance reliability and reduce operating costs. According to Carrier, these enhancements also enable tighter temperature controls, helping to decrease customers’ overall carbon footprint.
Carrier said that the OptimaLINE system delivers high energy efficiency at all load conditions, with maximum energy savings of up to 15% compared to competitor systems (measured at full load 15%, part load 85%; frozen 50%, perishable 50%). The system also reduces carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by up to 40% compared to previous Carrier units.
“We’re delighted that SeaCube has chosen the next-generation, future-ready, OptimaLINE reefer containers for their latest acquisition,” said Vineet Kashyap, Vice President & General Manager, Global Container Refrigeration, Carrier Transicold. “The design of the OptimaLINE unit enables us to deliver a step change in efficiency, reliability and performance for SeaCube and their customers.”
