Compact Container Systems (CCS) has introduced a foldable container that can condense to a fifth of its original size.
Florida-based Compact Container Systems (CCS) has launched the SeaFold HC 40’ container, a five-in-one, foldable shipping container, which can condense to a fifth of its original size, improving storage and transportation efficiency.
SeaFold says its collapsible design is “Built in accordance with all provisions of the ISO 1496-1-2013 certification standards, International Convention for Safe Containers (“CSC”), International Union of Railways (“UIC”), Lloyd’s Register (“LR”) and Bureau Veritas (“BV”). Furthermore, the container is compatible with all standard lift equipment used in most ports, terminals and depots, and no special equipment is needed to operate it.
“The opportunity to place five of our folded containers in the same slot as one 40’ HC standard container is a game changer in managing container movements, maximising storage capacity, and greatly reducing carbon emissions,” said Charlie Santos-Buch, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, CCS.
“Whether it is saving cost or space, our containers create a safe and more efficient operating and storage system at a port, terminal or depot.
“This is especially important during the high-volume peak season when congestion is a big issue and moving out empty containers becomes a priority.”
CCS highlighted that over 20% of all ISO containers return to their port of origin empty, positioning the SeaFold 40′ as a solution with the potential to reduce repositioning costs by 56%, storage space by 80%, and carbon emissions by up to 70%. CCS joins companies like Zbox, Staxxon, and 4Fold, all of which have developed various designs for foldable containers aimed at reducing emissions and increasing space management on ships, trains and trucks.
