Kalmar has inked a deal with Italian maritime logistics operator Grimaldi Group to supply three Kalmar heavy terminal tractors. The machines will be deployed to operate on the new Motorway of the Sea, a Ro-Ro transport system connecting the ports of Trieste, Italy, and Ambarli, Turkey.

The order was booked in Kalmar’s Q3 2024 order intake with delivery of the machines scheduled for the same quarter.

Kalmar’s heavy-duty 618i Terminal Tractors are designed for RoRo handling, providing enhanced traction for climbing steep ramps and executing tight turns on slippery decks. They are fitted with CAN-Bus system that integrates all operating functions and displays operational and service data on a single screen.

Kalmar offers three different heavy terminal tractor models, each with varying lifting capacities. The TT618i and TRL618i models have standard lifting capacities of 25t, with the option of double lifting cylinders to raise this capacity to 32t. Meanwhile, the TR618i Heavy Terminal Tractor comes with a standard lifting capacity of 32t.

The tractors feature increased window space with less reflective glass, enhancing the driver’s view. They can also be fitted with an optional roof-mounted window.
