BEST launches Barcelona-Lyons intermodal service

The new connection from BEST’s on-dock rail yard to the French city will initially operate with weekly frequency in each direction

This is Barcelona Europe South Terminal’s (BEST) first international rail service, through its rail-based logistics affiliate Synergy, which already has good coverage of the Spanish market, with services to Zaragoza, Madrid, Pamplona, Miranda de Ebro, Tarragona and Burgos, with around 100 trains a week.

The new service is available to carriers, freight forwarders and cargo owners.

This is not the only new intermodal service for Lyons. In October, Euro Cargo Rail, the DB Cargo affiliate in France, launched a three pairs/week service linking Vénissieux (near Lyons) with Contship Italia’s Rail Hub Milano intermodal terminal in Melzo, near Milan. The main traffic is shipments of film, paper products and detergents.
