New handrail features integrated lighting and data transmission hardware.
China’s BiNY has launched a “Smart Self-luminous Handrail” for port equipment, including rail mounted cranes and bulk material handling systems.
Designed as an alternative to traditional handrails with separately mounted light fixtures, the Smart Self-luminous Handrail features integrated lighting and data transmission systems. “The new product not only emits light to suit the safety needs of crane inspection or repair for workers, but acts as the auto-networking device to retrieve and transmit data for the cranes’ remote diagnostics and the internet communication, where necessary.” BiNY stated.
BiNY is also targeting mines, power plants and other bulk material handling sites with extensive handrailing along belt conveyors and other equipment. “BiNY believes the smart self-luminous handrail will facilitate the implementation of a separate network for real-time route inspection on site and IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things) on site,” the company said.
