DFDS Seaways has won a 5-year contract from Stora Enso to transport 700,000 tons of paper and board products annually between Gothenburg and Belgium. The deal includes a possible extension clause for an additional three years
To meet the required frequenc,y DFDS will increase the number of weekly sailings from eight to 12, by adding sailings between Gothenburg and Zeebrugge. Three ro-ro vessels will be operated on the route, for which DFDS has purchased two vessels from Royal Wagenborg : SCHIEBORG and SLINGEBORG, which were originally built for Stora Enso system traffic in Stora Enso big boxes. They represent a value of DKr270M.
The third vessel will be transferred from the Gothenburg-Ghent service which DFDS presently covers with four ro-ro freighters.
The route is planned to commence on June 1st 2019.
