German ports are focusing on infrastructure developments, electrification, automation and digitalisation.

Germany is planning a steep increase in motorway tolls for goods transport to fund the development of rail infrastructure.

Union says employer group’s latest offer is “a classic sham” and calls for a 24-hour strike at the ports of Emden, Bremerhaven, Bremen, Brake, Wilhelmshaven and Hamburg starting on Thursday, 23 June.

The small inland port of Bückeburg-Berenbusch on Germany’s Mittel-landkanal is fully open for business, following the demolition of redundant warehouses and renewal of its rail infrastructure.

Ports of Lower Saxony (NPorts) has announced an investment round of €17.5M in the Port of Brake, made up of €8.5M for infrastructure and €9M for maintenance. Since 2005, NPorts and the private sector have invested around €200M in the ports under its umbrella.
