GPA targets top spot

March’s record month at the Port of Brunswick sets the stage for Georgia Ports to handle an all-time record of 800,000 units by June.

Georgia Ports Authority witnessed a 14 percent month-on-month spike in container handling, setting an optimistic tone for the port’s performance in the coming months.

In a bid to reduce truck traffic in local neighbourhoods and cut levels of pollution, Georgia Ports Authority (GPA) is to invest US$29M in the construction of a new overpass.

The Eugene Talmadge Memorial suspension bridge in Savannah is to be raised meaning that ships with bigger air draughts will be able to call at the port.

The strategy is prefigured by the recent establishment of a dedicated terminals division in Rotterdam

The Georgia Ports Authority (GPA), which owns the ports of Savannah and New Brunswick, has established a Trucker Safety Committee. Its aim is to address driver concerns and help new and existing drivers become more familiar with safe operations at GPA’s terminals.
