ICHCA calls for cargo operations to improve

The Port Equipment Manufacturers Association elected new Board members and discussed its work programme for 2024 at its Annual General Meeting in Killarney.

The Port Equipment Manufacturers Association (PEMA) and the International Cargo Handling Coordination Association (ICHCA) have joined forces to help improve safety and sustainability across ports and terminals.

The annual IAPH World Ports Conference will be held at Abu Dhabi, U.A.E., from 31 October to 2 November 2023 and will assess the indispensable role of ports in global maritime trade, bringing together key industry stakeholders for learning, information sharing, networking and collaboration.

The risks posed by poor conditions of storage of this common compound, which is used extensively in the fertilisers and explosives industries, have been well documented, but awareness of the dangers of fire during transportation by sea is less well known

The runners-up in the virtual awards ceremony, hosted at TT Club’s office in London, UK, were PSA International (Video Analytics anti-collision system) and Cargotec Sweden AB (safe container inspection from the underside)
