Intercity Barge passes 100,000 containers threshold

Intercity Barge passes 100,000 containers threshold

Intercity Barge is operated by Danser Group and ECT affiliate European Gateway Services. With more than 100.000 containers transported since the introduction of the shuttle service last year, Danser Group and EGS intend to extend the service shortly.

Intercity Barge "shows that reliable barge services within the Port of Rotterdam area and the vicinity of the port can help to strengthen the supply chain," says the Port of Rotterdam.

The Intercity Barge concept bundles containers at terminals and depots, to facilitate larger call sizes to and from the Maasvlakte. The service uses fixed windows at the ECT terminals and can thus offer sustainable and efficient but above all reliable transport.

"Customers can pick up and drop off their containers at their location of choice and remain assured for a timely delivery," stated the port.
