LDz Loģistika has signed contracts in Moscow concerning carriage of intermodal trailers
On 15th April, during the TransRussia exhibition in Moscow, SJSC Latvijas dzelzceļš (Latvian railways) signed cooperation contracts with three companies intending to start offering intermodal trailer services.
The agreements are aimed at increasing the volume of rail freight in traffic with Russia, and promoting integration of information technologies associated with rail freight services.
The first contract was signed by LLC “LDz Loģistika” (LDz Logistics) and Russia’s JSC The First Federal Counter-Carrier Operator to cooperate in transport of intermodal trailers (called "contrtrailers" by LDz Logistics).
Such services will be implemented in the route Moscow-Riga. At the same time, an option is provided to begin production of Russian broad gauge pocket wagons in Latvia by using the licence of The First Federal Counter-Carrier Operator.
The contract signed with JSC First Freight Company provides for a general increase of freight carriage volume in traffic with Russia. This agreement builds on a MoU signed in 2016, covering imp/ex and transit loads.
The third contract is with “Digital Logistics” concerning cooperation in implementation of information technologies.
In order to continue development of logistics services and to promote efficiency and safety of services by using the newest technologies, Gundars Ābols, the Chairman of the Board of LDz Logistics, also signed a cooperation memorandum with the International Logistics Business Association. This provides for mutual exchange of information and experience between the companies of the industry in relation of transport and logistics services, carriage safety, electronic documentation, as well as topicalities in the laws on industry.
