The two cranes have been booked into Cargotec’s Q3 2018 order intake and are scheduled to be delivered to Eurogate’s Tanger S.A. terminal in Morocco in Q3 2019.

Eurogate’s Tanger container terminal has a quay length of 812 m, a terminal area of 400,000 m², and equipment including eight STS cranes and 21 RTGs. All of the RTGs are diesel-electric, and have been supplied by Kalmar.

The news machines will also be diesel electric. “Kalmar Classic RTG combines the best of diesel and electric technology to enable fuel savings, low emissions and easy maintenance. At 1,000 hours, it has one of the longest maintenance intervals in the industry, while its modular design makes it easy to tailor according to customer-specific requirements,” Kalmar stated.

The cranes will stack 7+1 rows wide and 1-over-5 high, with a lifting capacity of 50 tons under the spreader. The order includes the Kalmar SmartRail automated gantry steering solution with Container Position Indication (CPI) for updating the TOS. They will also feature Kalmar SmartFleet - the company’s remote equipment monitoring and reporting system.

"Kalmar RTGs have been the backbone of our operations for many years already, so it was a natural step to turn to Kalmar once again when it came to expanding our existing fleet," said Andrea Cervia, CEO, EUROGATE Tanger. "We appreciate Kalmar for their innovative technical solutions and we are sure to continue together to increase the terminal performance and reliability."

Ilkka Annala, Vice President, Intelligent Crane Solutions, Kalmar added: "We have enjoyed a very successful long-term relationship with EUROGATE Tanger, and we are very pleased that they have once again chosen our safe, reliable and fuel-efficient RTG solutions to support operations at the terminal."
