Kalmar sells rough terrain lift truck business to leveraged MBO

The new hybrid straddle carriers are part of a fleet renewal programme aimed at improving the Med Europe Terminal’s environmental performance.

The operating profit percentages for the different business areas varied throughout the year, with Kalmar at 12.9%, Hiab at 14.1%, and MacGregor at 4.3%.

Forterra’s AutoDrive® system is a driverless system for complex conditions including ports and logistics centres.

Alongside the Kalmar Hybrid Straddle Carriers, Kalmar Electric Forklifts are used in break-bulk operations to handle cargo such as steel, cement and lumber.

The two Kalmar electric straddle carriers will feature batteries with an operation time of 45–50 minutes and a charging time of five to six minutes.

The equipment will be deployed at ITC’s Somerton Intermodal Terminal, a multipurpose terminal currently being constructed in Melbourne, Victoria.
