Lorenzini in Livorno receives new crane

The order for the G HMK 8412, the biggest crane available to date from Konecranes Gottwald, was reported last October.

Lorenzini has now added that it represents an investment of more than €4M, and it has also acquired a Hyster RS46-41 XLS reach stacker for intermodal rail work.

The crane is designated G HMK 8412-64. It has 12 axle lines, a maximum radius of 64m, the operator’s cab is 43m off the ground and the tower is a HT (high tower) with a 10m extension.

The crane was shipped erect, with boom lowered and counterweights removed, from Holland on board BBC FUJI, and arrived in Livorno just before Christmas.

It it is equipped to hande containers, general cargo and bulk at the Lorenzino multi-putpose terminal, in which MSC has a stake.

Lorenzini handled 130,000 containers in 2018, compared to 104,000 in 2017, equivalent to 208,00 TEU (169,000 TEU in 2017).
