Machine learning for HHLA

A project being undertaken in the Port of Alicante in Spain by Momentum Advanced Port Services SL (Mitsui-Paceco Group) and AI specialist 1MillionBot could revolutionise terminal automation.

Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) has agreed a deal with Israel-based technology company Captain’s Eye to install its AI fire detection system on board 10 new car carrying ships it will take delivery of from 2024.

Hong Kong-headquartered IQAX Ltd, an innovative developer of technology solutions for the shipping and logistics industries, has bought shares in Shanghai-based BoxPlus Information Technology Company Ltd. BoxPlus develops sensors and Internet of Things (IoT) devices for containers.

Atai is an applied Artificial Intelligence (AI) company based in Hyderabad, India, with offices in the Netherlands, Germany and the US. It has developed AI solutions for streamlining business processes by combining AI algorithms with sensors and wireless technology to capture and process data in a range of applications, including ports and logistics.

There are some promising results as software suppliers and terminal operators look to leverage artificial intelligence to improve terminal processes.

FourKites, which is a leading provider of supply chain visibility solutions, has launched Fin AI, a product it refers to as a “new natural language interface that helps customers surface buried insights, identify opportunities for optimisation, and automate time-consuming tasks, such as assessing the impact of events across a shipment network”.
