MCI increases its share of the reefer market

Maersk Container Industry (MCI) has introduced its latest version of its Star Cool Intelligent Trip Inspection (ITI) automated system. It will further cut the time and resources needed for manual pre-trip inspections (PTI) of reefer containers. PTIs are essential in ensuring the functionality and safety of reefer containers before they are loaded with cargo, but they are costly and take time.

Hong Kong-headquartered IQAX Ltd, an innovative developer of technology solutions for the shipping and logistics industries, has bought shares in Shanghai-based BoxPlus Information Technology Company Ltd. BoxPlus develops sensors and Internet of Things (IoT) devices for containers.

In August, the Slovenian port of Koper completed a new section of reefer racks at the container terminal, adding 315 reefer plugs and bringing the total number of electric plugs for reefer boxes to more than 1,000.
