Neuss on the blocks

Contargo has started a new block train service between Neuss and Rotterdam, initially based on two weekly pairs with a fixed schedule

The new Multimodal Express offers an alternative to Contargo's own waterways shuttle and, if successful, frequency will increase to three weekly pairs. The service links Contargo's terminal in Neuss (Flosshafenstrasse) with the Maasvlakte I terminals of APM Terminals and ECT Delta, and ECT Euromax.

“With Multimodal-Express we are connecting the lower Rhine region from Duisburg via Krefeld, Düsseldorf and Mönchen-Gladbach directly with Europe’s largest seaport by rail,” said Jürgen Albersmann, Managing Director of Contargo Neuss GmbH.

"The rail product adds to existing inland waterway services, particularly at low and high water conditions when an alternative solution is required. It is also faster than inland vessels, while we continue to relieve the congested highways in the Rhineland region.”
