In June, Russia’s Global Ports Investments appointed Vladimir Bychkov as CEO effective from 16 July 2018, succeeding Mikhail Loganov who is stepping down from the role but will work with Bychkov as his adviser during a transitional period until 30 September. Bychkov is a former CEO of Delo Group and of its affiliate Ruscon. We apologise for the delay in reporting this appointment.
Dover Harbour Board has appointed shipping and aviation veteran Doug Bannister as its new CEO, with effect from March 2019 when he will join from Jersey Airport. Bannister replaces Tim Waggott, who left the port in March following an internal report that flagged up concerns among staff. Dover is at the sharpest of all the sharp ends of a potential "no deal Brexit."
Vadim Baibak has been appointed Managing Director of Vostochny Port, Russia’s largest dedicated coal port. Balbak replaces Anatoly Lazarev who has been transferred to another post. Baibak has been with Vostochny Port for more than five years and was previously Operations Manager.
Holger Hinrichs recently joined German heavy cargo shipping operator Combi Lift GmbH as Joint Managing Director. Hinrichs has more than 20 years experience in project shipping and logistics and joins Combi Lift, part of Harren & Partner, from d.ship Carrier, part of Deugro group, where he was Vice President.
Bulk shipping operator Navios Maritime Holdings, Inc recently appointed Jeremy J Bryan as COO of Navios Corporation as of February 1, 2019. Bryan joins Navios Corporation from Cargill International SA where he worked since 1992, most recently as Global Head of Drybulk Trading, having previously served as the head of the Panamax and Handymax trading departments.
After just one month in post, Encarnación Canalejo has stood down as director of Valparaíso port authority (EPV), and been replaced by Erwin Hahn. The president of EPV, Raúl Celis, issued a denial that Ms Canalejo was forced out over a rift with the local mayor over recent developments, including the Barón project. He also denied there was a split in the Board.
Bureau Veritas has appointed François Chabas as EVP and Group CFO. Chabas has served CFO of Bureau Veritas Europe Zone and in his new post replaces Nicolas Tissot. Tissot will be an Advisor to the CEO before leaving BV in January 2019.
Effective June 1, 2019, Michael Baechler is Head of the Business Unit (BU) Global, Dürrenäsch, is appointed to the new position as COO of the Bertschi Group. As of February 1, 2019, Nils Thater Deputy Managing Director of BU Global in Dürrenäsch, takes over the role as Managing Director BU Global. BU Global is responsible for the Group’s worldwide tank container shipments, with its own subsidiaries in Shanghai, Singapore, Houston, Dubai, Sao Paolo and Dürrenäsch.
Turi Fiorito has been appointed as new Director of the European Federation of Inland Ports (EFIP). He will take up his function on 20 August, 2018. Fiorito has worked as Transport Policy Advisor for a Dutch Member of the European Parliament, Wim van de Camp and has thus worked on different port (Port Services Regulation), rail (4th railway package) and inland waterway issues for a number of years.
Oakland, Calif: The Port of Oakland has promoted Thanh Vuong to Principal Engineer in the Maritime Project Design and Delivery Department. Vuong will be responsible for managing the port’s maritime capital improvement and maintenance programmes.
Elvio Simonetti, who has acted in senior sales and marketing posts for several leading OEMS in the mobile port equipment field over the past 35 years and more, has been appointed Business Developer for RHC Deutschland, based in the Jakarta, Indonesia office, starting 1st September 2018. Headquartered in Germany, RHC is a team of dedicated European and Asian engineering and commercial professionals with over 200 years’ collective experience in heavy duty machinery working with international companies.
The Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners has voted Richard D Cameron as the port’s new Deputy Executive Director of Planning and Development and Dr Noel Hacegaba as the Port’s new Deputy Executive Director of Administration and Operations. Cameron and Hacegaba have served the port in several capacities for many years.
Wouter van Benten has been appointed to the supervisory board of the Rotterdam Port Authority (HbR) from 1st September, replacing Ruud Sondag following the latter’s move to the Dutch power company Eneco as its new CEO. Van Benten is presently the CEO of DHL Parcel for the Benelux. Previously he worked for Nedlloyd and held posts in Italy, Spain and Belgium.
Helsinki, Finland: Cargotec has announced that Scott Phillips has been appointed President of its Hiab business area as of 1 October 2018. He will be a member of the Cargotec Executive Board and report to CEO Mika Vehviläinen. Phillips joins Cargotec from General Electric where he holds the position of Vice President and CEO Mining. He has held various global leadership positions in the construction and mining industries, working for Sandvik and Caterpillar, Inc, among others.
Woodcliff Lake, NJ, USA: SeaCube Container Leasing Ltd has promoted David F Doorley to the position of Chief Financial Officer. Doorley has served as SeaCube’s Treasurer and Vice President of Investor Relations since 2010 and is a long time SeaCube employee.
Paolo Cavo, the long-established spare parts broker for industrial and port handling machinery (ex-Belotti SpA, Columbus Srl), has been appointed Managing Director of Italy-based RMP Srl, specialising in spare parts and components for mobile port handling equipment

Baar, Switzerland: Lauren Binetti has been appointed CCO of Ceva Logistics.
After more than 17 years at the helm, Nick Lowe is taking early retirement from Dachser UK at the end of September to pursue other interests. His successor is Mark Rollinson, who has formerly held senior Director positions at Schenker and Allport Cargo Services.

Theresa-Maria Siegmund has joined the Communications & Information Department of Port of Hamburg Marketing as a Press and Public Relations Officer. She is also in charge of visitor group management, succeeding Sandra Kunze, who has left the company after 11 years at her own request and is moving abroad with her family.
