Bromma on the up and up

In February this year Bromma reported that 2018 has been a record year for new order intake, with orders growing 17% year-on-year.

This momentum has continued into 2019. In the first semester, the company received orders for around 670 spreaders, with China, traditionally a challenging market for the company, accounting for over 110 spreaders and the US, traditionally a strong market, also returning very high numbers, while order intake in EMEA was also strong.

Bromma has now highlighted several large orders received in the first nine months of 2019:

  • 60 YSX45E for Abu Dhabi Terminals, Port Khalifa
  • 12 STS45, 27 YSX45E and 3 YTS45E for Shenzhen Haixing Harbor Development
  • 8 STS45 and 20 YSX45E for Yilport, PuertoBoliviar, Ecuador
  • 20 YSX45E for Georgia Ports Authority, USA
  • 10 STS45 and 12 YTS45 for PTP, Malaysia
  • 12 YSX40E for Port of Felixstowe, UK
  • 11 YSX45E for HHLA, CTA Hamburg, Germany
  • 6 STS45 for MPET, Antwerp, Belgium
  • 6 STS45 for Ningbo Beilun International Container Terminal, China
  • 30 YSX45E and12 STS45 for Hadarom Container Terminal Ltd, Israel
  • 17 YSX45E and10 STS45 for MINTT, Tanger Med 3, Morocco
  • 16 YSX45E for Nhava Sheva International Container Terminal Pvt Ltd, india
  • 6 YSX45E for Union Pacific Railroad and 5 YSX45E for Norfolk Southern Corp, USA

Some of this business is for replacement spreaders (eg MPET Antwerp, CTA Hamburg and GPA Savannah) and some is for new cranes. Many orders come through OEMs. However, as OEMs often prefer not to have their business "spotlighted" by a supplier, Bromma focuses on the delivery point.

One stand-out new business contract in Q3 concerns the new TIL "Hadarom" project in the Port of Ashdod Israel. Note also the order for it new twin 20 yard crane spreaders - YTS45E - for Shenzhen Haixing. And, as regards the US intermodal business, at least one of the spreaders for NS will be capable of handling both ISO and US domcoms (WTP), and they will be operated under a rotator.

Already the spreader supplier for Kalmar mobile plant under the Cargotec umbrella - reach stackers, ECHs and dedicated laden container handling mast trucks - Bromma says that it is picking up new business from third party mobile plant OEMs, particularly in China.
