Helsinki bounces back

After the poor figures recorded at the beginning of the year, cargo throughput Port of Helsinki returned to last year’s level in February and March

Between January and March, a total of 3.6 Mt of cargo was transported via the Port of Helsinki (-3.9% compared to the same time last year). Of this amount, 1.7 Mt was in import (-5.1%), and 1.9 Mt in export (-2.7%).

 

Unitised cargo predominates at Helsinki. The amount of goods transported in containers was 130,000 TEU, which was 2.1% less than the same time last year, or 1 Mt in tonnage (-2.3%).

 

A total of 140,000 trucks and trailers passed through the Port of Helsinki between January and March (-3.3%). Other rolling loads accounted for 1.8 Mt (-5.2%).
