US-based Hydoprocessing Associates (HPA) is using a set of container lifting jacks from Bison Group in New Zealand to handle its own specialist equipment for its range of catalyst handling, reactor, mechanical and cleaning services to the oil and petrochemical industry.

In 2019, HPA acquired a containerised KOKS EcoVac Loader. This is a self-supporting vacuum unit, designed for suctioning, discharging and transporting fluid and hazardous substances, such as liquids, sludge, fats, oils, fuels and chemicals.

The system is mounted within a 20ft ISO container with the side walls removed. Its loaded weights are around 40,000 lbs and HPA needs the flexibility to transport the system on a truck chassis. Rather than rely on customers or third party operators to lift the EcoVac Loader and other containers off and on a truck, HPA has invested in a system of portable Bison Jacks, so its own personnel can manage this process.

Bison supplied a set of its C-Lift A32 Series jacks. These are Bison’s largest jacks, and can handle ISO containers up to 32 tonnes (70,000 lbs). They are controlled by a wireless remote system. HPA bought the portable version of the A32 jacks, and moves them between jobs to handle its own equipment as required.

The order is an important reference for Bison in the United States. HPA’s Global Asset Manager, Marcus Oliver, give his opinion of the system in the following video.
