A total of 11 prizes were awarded in the two ITALA categories (Italian Lifting & Transportation Awards and concurrent Italian Terminal and Logistic Awards). The awards ceremony took place on the last day of the seventh edition of the biennial Lifting, Handling and Heavy Transport Equipment show held recently in Piacenza (GIS Piacenza).

GIS is the leading showcase in Italy - and one of the biggest in Europe – for heavy plant for transporting and lifting goods in the ports and intermodal sector, industry and logistics.

Kalmar, through Kalmar Italia, won the Innovation award. A Kalmar machine is involved at some stage during the handling of one in four containers every trip it makes.

Kalmar is also a leader in mobile plant and straddle carriers in the Italian ports sector, with important deliveries last year in Gioia Tauro, Salerno and Naples. Under the leadership of Marco Tosi, Kalmar Italia saw a 15% increase in turnover in 2018 and this year introduced three new products into the Italian market.

The "Green" award was won by FTMH Fantuzzi Team Material Handling, set up in 2014 by Ottavio Artoni and other senior staff who worked for the former Fantuzzi Group. FTMH has been able to take advantage of the high regard that Fantuzzi mobile plant was held in by customers around the world, in terms of their durability, reliability and performance. In the past few months, WorldCargo News has come across several examples of ex-Fantuzzi customers turning to FTMH for new equipment.

In any event, the Green Award was for FTMH’s latest product, an eletric 25 tonne FLT, several of which are now deployed in the steel handling and logistics industry.

The FT-EL 25-12 is powered by four electric motors drawing on 380V lead-acid batteries Output is 500kWh, Autonomy is 8h, allowing a single shift to be performed with the same mission capacity as a diesel ic heavy FLT.
