Ove Meyer resigns from Zeaborn; Luca Becce still at the helm of Assiterminal; changes at Tsubaki Kabelschlepp; GETO elects new president; TMSA elects new officers
Christian Kern (left), a former Chancellor of the Republic of Austria, and Vladimir Andreyevich Puchkov, who was Russia’s Minister of Emergency Situations (Emercom) from 2012 to 2018, have joined the Supervisory Board of Russian State Railways, RZD. Kern is a former CEO of Austrian State Railways (ÖBB) and also a former Chairman of the Supervisory Board of ÖBB’s freight affiliate Rail Cargo Austria (RCA). When he was elected to the top post in the Austrian government in May 2016 he gave up all his appointments in relation to the international railways business. Following elections, he had a spell as Leader of the Opposition, but left politics last year to return to the world of business. In 2016, Puchkov, who holds the military rank of General Lieutenant, lent Russian firefigthers to Canada’s Alberta province to help combat raging wildfires.
Zeaborn GmbH & Co KG has announced that one of its founders, Ove Meyer, has resigned from all his management positions at Zeaborn and Zeamarine, although he will remain as managing partner of Zeaborn Holding. “It has been more than six exciting and intense years, during which we built up Zeaborn through takeovers, mergers and post-merger integrations into a globally active shipping company in commercial and technical management," said Meyer, who added that he will be taking a break "to look after some other important matters that have been short-changed over the past couple of years. After that, I will pursue some new challenges.”
Assiterminal, the association of port operators in Italy, has re-elected Luca Becce for a further two years of office. His second term runs from May 2019-May 2021. Luigi Robba has stepped down as Director, and is succeeded by Alessandro Ferrari of GNV Grandi Navi Veloci. Other members of the Board are Giancarlo Acciaro, Maurizio Anselmo, Giorgio Blanco, Alberto Casali, Matteo Catani, Paolo Cornetto, Marco Dalli, Galliano Di Marco, Piero Fabiano, Silvio Garrè, Roberto Goglio, Giordano Bruno Guerrini, Pasquale Legora De Feo, Ignazio Messina, Antonio Musso, Antonio Pandolfo, Giulio Schenone, Vito Totorizzo and Fabrizio Zerbini.
Rodrigo Pommiez Aravena has replaced Patricia López Manieu as general manager of Chile’s Empresa Portuaria Austral following her transfer to another post in the central region. Pommiez has previously worked as the head of the SAAM’s Agencies Division in Valparaíso, as General Manager of Puerto Buenavista, Colombia, and as Commercial Manager of the Port Society of Caldera, Costa Rica. Both latter companies are also members of the SAAM Group.
Henning Preis has taken over as president & CEO of Tsubaki Kabelschlepp GmbH and Kabelschlepp GmbH-Hünsborn, while Dipl.-Ing. Michael Diebel has been appointed Managing Director and COO of Kabelschlepp GmbH-Hünsborn. Kevin Powers, to whom Preis and Diebel previously reported, moves to the Board and will also be taking on more tasks within the US Tsubaki Holding. With the new members of the management, Tsubaki as the holding company and Kabelschlepp are focusing on continuity in the management of the globally active company. Preis, who has been with the company for three years, was responsible for the Cable Carriers business area. Diebel joined Kabelschlepp from a managing position with Rittal in 2007, and was already responsible for the CAPS (Conveyor & Protection Systems) business area.
Christoph Carnol has been appointed Joint Managing Director (JMD) of the German inland port of Krefeld (Hafen Krefeld GmbH & Co KG). He succeeds Sascha Odermatt, who left the port to join Neuss Düsseldorfer Häfen GmbH & Co, which has a 49% stake in Hafen Krefeld. The other JMD at Krefeld is Elisabeth Lehnen. Hafen Krefeld is the fourth largest port in North Rhine Westphalia, after Duisburg ,Cologne and Neuss/Düsseldorf.
Lori Ann Guzmán will not seek reappointment as a member of the Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners due to her new responsibilities as city manager of the City of Costa Mesa. Guzmán, who is nearing the end of her first term as a Harbor Commissioner, has served since December 2013, including two years as president and two as secretary.
GETO (Group of European Transeurasia Operators and Forwarders) has elected Board member Harm Sievers as its new President. Sievers, the managing director of the German Baltic ferry port of Fährhafen Sassnitz GmbH on the island of Rügen, succeeds Hans Reinhard, who has retired after six years in post, but will be available as an advisor for the organisation.
Roland Boekhout has left Management Board post as head of Banking Market Leaders at ING Bank. As of 1st January 2020 he will join Commerzbank as a Management Board member with responsibility for the Corporate Clients segment. Commerzbank has now withdrawn completely from the ship finance sector, reportedly selling what remained of its portfolio to Davidson Kempner Capital Management.
