People on the move – Ulrich Ulrichs joins BBC Chartering

Ulrich Ulrichs (pictured left), formerly CEO of Rickmers Line, has joined BBC Chartering GmbH, the global multipurpose and heavy lift shipping operator based in Leer, Germany, as CCO, with anticipation that he will become CEO after a transition period.

Marco Campodonico, Mauro Morasso and Paolo Boccoleri, Directors of Intermare Group based in Genoa, have formed a joint venture with SAL Heavy Lift Group GmbH in Hamburg, called SAL Heavy Lift Italy. A similar arrangement was recently made by SAL in Spain with Grupo Davila, with the local operation run by Davila’s Carlos Claramunt Lebrón.

Following MSC’s takeover of Contship Italia’s stake in MCT Medcenter Container Terminal, Antonio Testi has left Contship Italia, but will continue to run MCT for MSC. Testi also ran LSCT La Spezia Container Terminal and this post has now been taken over directly by Contship Italia’s President, Cecilia Eckelmann-Battistello.

Laurent Foloppe has been appointed Commercial and Marketing Director for HAROPA (Le Havre, Rouen and Paris ports marketing alliance), responsible for marketing, liner shipping, international development, container and ro-ro trades. He has also been appointed Interim Manager of the Transport Networks Division (rail and river hinterland). Before joining HAROPA, he was with Bolloré Group for a number of years in senior positions.

In Chile, Puertos y Logística has been renamed DP World Chile by its new majority owner, DP World. The number of Board members has been reduced from seven to five. Newly-appointed directors are Tiemen Meester (President), Marcelo Felberg, Otto Bottger, Jorge Marshall Riversa (Vice President) and Gonzalo García Balmaceda.

In Argentina, TecPlata, ICTSI’s container terminal at the Port of La Plata, has appointed Jesse Ian Damsky as its new CCO. Damsky, who is a US national, will report to CEO Bruno Porchietto. Prior to coming to Argentina, Damsky was APM Terminals’ COO at the Port of Salalah, in Oman, where he had been ever since the terminal opened. Prior to that, he was general manager for Maersk’s logistics company Damco, for Iraq and Jordan.

Notice of death

WorldCargo News regrets to report that Pierluigi Maneschi, shipping agent, port operator and one of the leading lights in the Italian ports industry over the past 40 years and more, has died, at the age of 79. Maneschi was a driving force behind the development of Voltri container terminal in Genoa. Prior to that, he led the privatisation of Lloyd Triestino, taking it out of the control of Finmare, and the development of multimodal transportation in Italy.
