Next stop Europe with Cambodian rail revival

Toll Group has ordered over 40 Konecranes lift trucks for its Australian operations through Konecranes’ Australian distributor United Forklift and Access Solutions.

After months of trying to lure investors to part-sales of selected business units, Australian ports and rail operator Asciano has succumbed to market pressure and placed the entire group on the market.

Pacific National (PN), the now-dominant Australian rail company jointly owned by Toll and Patrick, is spreading its wings further to give it expanded east coast and southern Australian coverage.

In a move for which there has been no real public explanation, Toll/Patrick rail joint venture Pacific National (PN) announced last month that it would withdraw from the provision of container rail services into and out of Port Botany.

As expected, the Lang Corporation/Toll Holdings joint venture, National Rail Consortium Pty Ltd, has won the bidding for Australian government-owned rail companies National Rail Corporation (NRC) and FreightCorp.

Toll Holdings and Lang Corporation have formed a consortium to bid for NRC and FreightCorp, saying the joint company will be a long-term venture and not just a bidding vehicle.
