American Commercial Barge Line also has a new CEO; disruptions in Mexico; Nexxiott executive gets key role with ISO TC104; new marketing director at Hempel
Jack Mahoney, a former president of Maersk Canada and more recently working in a senior capacity on the Florham Park, NJ automotive industry cluster has joined Westwood Shipping Lines as its new CEO, with effect from 8th September, based in Puyallup in Washington state. He follows Guy Stephenson who is retiring after 13 years with the company, but will stay on as executive advisor to the General Counsel. Mahoney started his career with Sea-Land in Boston and later left for OOCL before joining Maersk after their takeover of Sea-Land.
Jefferson, IN, USA: American Commercial Barge Line (ACBL), a US inland navigation specialist, has appointed Mike Ellis (photo above left) as CEO as of August 17th 2020, replacing Mark Knoy, who is retiring. Ellis joins ACBL from Savage Services Corporation, where he was EVP, prior to the company’s inland business being sold to Kirby. Before that he was President of Setton Towing, LLC, which is now part of Savage.
Three directors of Mexico’s National Ports Authority (CGPMM), which reports to the Ministry of Communications and Transport (SCT), have tendered their resignations. This is in response to the replacement of Héctor López Gutiérrez by Rosa Icela Rodríguez as director general. Those stepping down are Fernando Bustamante Igartúa, who has been in post since October 2019, following the departure of his predecessor Claudia Sánchez Porras to Fidena. Luz Alicia Iturbe de Garay also submitted her resignation; she had been appointed in September 2019. Finally, Francisco Javier Fernández Perroni has resigned from the General Directorate of Merchant Marine, to which he was appointed at the same time as Héctor López became Director general at CGPMM.
The Chilean Port of San Antonio has appointed transport engineer, Jorge Santos Rosentreter, as its new operations manager. With 12 years experience in the sector, he previously worked at Puerto Columbo, which provides a range of container handling services just outside San Antonio port, and also as a shipping agent in the same port.
Marianna Levtov, expert for global digital standards at Nexxiot AG has been elected Convenor of the ISO Technical Committee 104/SC 04/WG 2, which deals with AEI for containers and container related equipment. In 2019 Ms Levtov, who is from Israel and is fluent in several languages, was invited to ISO to develop standards for the industry and has now been chosen take over the lead of the WG2 for the next three years, working towards defining sustainable standards for the entire logistic sector. According to Nexxiot, she has "led some of the most complex proof-of concepts between the rail cargo and shipping sectors in the Middle East, Russia and the Far East."
Camilla Travis has been appointed Group Director for Marketing at coatings company Hempel A/S. She will focus on e-marketing strategies, assortment and portfolio. Ms Travis has more than 20 years of marketing experience, encompassing almost every marketing discipline. She joins Hempel from ASSA Abloy in Sweden, where she was VP, Marketing & Communications for the Entrance Systems division. Prior to that, she held leadership positions in a number of companies, including Brüel & Kjær and FLSmidth.
Downers Grove, Ill, USA: Roadrunner Transportation Systems, Inc, has appointed Paul Svindland to its Board of Directors. Mr Svindland was a former CEO of Celadon Group, a leading North American trucking company, before being appointed CEO of STG Logistics in January 2020. Prior to his position with Celadon, he was Chairman and CEO of Farren International, a private equity-backed flatbed trucking company. The appointment coincides with three transactions completing Roadrunner’s divestiture of all its truckload segment businesses. This included the sale of Rich Logistics and Integrated Services, Inc. to an undisclosed strategic buyer, as well as the sale of Roadrunner Temperature Controlled, Inc (RRTC Holdings) to Laurel Oak Capital Partners.
Dutch-based Magna Tyres Group has appointed Ryan Cusick as Sales Manager of its US office. Cusick has over six years of experience in the tyre industry and worked for several major tyre brands, as well as 18 years of sales experience.
