People on the move – new man at Stena Bulk

Ceva Logistics, part of CMA CGM, is building its healthcares service portfolio by appointing Niels Van Namen (left) as its new global head, healthcare business development division, reporting directly to Laurent Binetti, CCO of Ceva Logistics. Van Namen has worked in the healthcare industry for 20 years and has more than 10 years experience in healthcare logistics. He joins Ceva from DSV, where he was business development director, healthcare, and before that he was vice president, healthcare, Europe for UPS. The post is based in Culemborg in the Netherlands.

 

Johnny Schmolker has resigned as Managing Director, Stena Bulk Products and Chemicals after around two years in post. Before that he was CEO of Stena Weco. Schmolker will be succeeded by AAyush Giri, who has been with Stena group in various positions and countries since 2004.

Juan Manuel Latapí has been confirmed in his post as managing director of Altamira Integral Port Administration (API), Mexico. This was a month after he temporarily took over from the previous incumbent Ricardo Correa Chairez. Correa was removed from the position by Luis Iván Gallardo, the then General Director of Port Development and Administration at the General Coordination of Ports and Merchant Marine (CGPMM). Originally, Roberto de la Garza Licón had been the mooted successor, although never took the job.

 

In Chile, Terminal Cerros de Valparaíso has informed the Financial Market Commission (CMF) that director Juan Luis Osuna Gómez has tendered his resignation, citing “strictly personal reasons”. In a temporary appointment, he has been replaced by his deputy, Luis Manuel Eusebio Iñigo. A definitive replacement will be appointed at the next shareholders’ meeting, when a completely new board of directors will be appointed.

 

Britannia Steam Ship Insurance Association Ltd has announced that Anthony J Firmin, the former COO of Hapag-Lloyd, has been appointed Chairman. He replaces Nigel Palmer, OBE, who has retired. Firmin, originally Finance Director of Hapag-Lloyd, was appointed COO in July 2014 and retired at the end of June this year. He was elected Deputy Chairman of Britannia in October 2016.

Pietro De Michieli, who has held a variety of managerial positions at companies active in the shipping industry and is currently managing director of Aumund Group, was recently appointed Chairman of PEMA’s Equipment Design and Infrastructure Committee. Aumund indicates that PEMA may be moving to broaden its scope to include bulk handling equipment. A strong push in this direction will come from Bedeschi Group, which recently joined PEMA.

 

The Port of Dunkirk has appointed David Lefranc as Director, Infrastructure Planning and Environment.

 

Consolidated Chassis Management (CCM) has named Michael Mitchell Interim COO, effective 1st November. He succeeds Jon Poelma, who will be leaving the company on 31st October. Mitchell, who also serves as VP of Human Resources and Administration, has been with CCM since its launch in 2005 and was previously with Matson Terminals, Sea-Land Service and its successor CSX Lines. During his seven years with CCM, Mr. Poelma has been instrumental in cementing CCM’s position as the leading neutral gray chassis pool manager in the US, it was stated.

 

Munich (Germany): Elatec, a leading developer and manufacturer of RFID products, today announced Paul K Massey as CEO of Elatec USA, Inc. This is a new post and Massey will focus on growing Elatec’s market throughout the Americas.

Union Tank Eckstein GmbH & Co KG (UTA) has appointed Carsten Bettermann as its new CEO. He succeeds Volker Huber, who, after four successful years as CEO of UTA, will take on a new responsibility within the Edenred Group, UTA’s majority owner.

 

Kempten, Germany: Edoardo Podestá has been appointed COO, Dachser Air & Sea Logistics, replacing Jochen Müller in this position. Müller’s contract expires in 2020, but he has now left Dachser. Up to now, Podestá has been MD of Dachser, Asia Pacific region.

 

Dubai, UAE: The Marcura Group, a Dubai-based group of companies focused on providing innovative business solutions to the global maritime industry, has appointed Andrei Grigoras as its Data Governance Officer.
