People on the move – Oakland CEO position confirmed

The Supervisory Board of Hapag-Lloyd has appointed Mark Freese as CFO, to succeed Nicolas Burr, who is returning to Chile after five years with the group, during which he was heavily involved in the integration of CSAV and UASC into Hapag-Lloyd.

Oakland, CA, USA: Danny Wan, who has served as the Port of Oakland’s interim Executive Director since last summer, and was Port Attorney for six years before then, has been named permanent Port Executive Director. The Port’s governing Board selected Mr Wan [photo left] at a special meeting this morning. He replaces Chris Lytle who retired in July after six years at the helm in Oakland. The port’s announcement capped a two-month, nationwide search.

Wan takes over at a key moment, with record revenue and operating income in FY2019. The seaport reached an all-time high in cargo volume while Oakland International Airport neared record passenger levels. The port is now reviewing its strategic direction heading into a new decade.

Alexey Rykovanov has been appointed director general of Murmansk Sea Port. He has worked as the port’s deputy director general for Capital Construction and Development since February 2014, having previously occupied a similar position at Posyet Commercial Port.

Evgeny Savkin has been appointed Director General of NKT, which operates the Yug-2 mineral bulk terminal in the Port of Ust Luga.

In Chile, the Board of Directors of Central Port has accepted the resignation of Matías Laso Polanco, as Director. He has been replaced by Sergio Mendoza Jordán.

Still in Chile, Terminal Puerto Arica has informed the Financial Market Commission (CMF) that the Board of Directors has officially received the resignation of Diego Bulnes Valdés as managing director, although he will remain in post until the end of the year. He will be replaced on 1 January 2020 by Gabriel Tumani Karmy, who has spent all his professional life at Valparaíso’s Terminal Pacífico Sur (TPS). He has been with TPS for 11 years, the last four as operations manager.

Following the collapse of the Evo Morales government in Bolivia, David Sánchez has resigned as Executive General Director of the Port Services Administration of Bolivia (ASP-B). Sánchez had been in post since February 2015.

Bremen, Germany: Dr Robert Gutsche is set to become the new Chief Financial Officer of the Röhlig Group, effective 1st March, 2020. He will succeed Hans-Ludger Körner, who is leaving Röhlig.
