In a short message in Deutsche Verkehrs Zeitung (DVZ) it was stated that Dirk Steffes, Head of DB Cargo Intermodal, is about to vacant this position, although it is not clear if he is leaving DB AG group. Steffes joined DB Schenker from TX Logistik in 2013 and took his present position with DB Cargo in April 2015. He is credited with achieve a turnaround at maritime container specialist Transfracht. DB Cargo was not prepared to comment.
La Spezia, Italy: In connection with a new pendulum service, Tarros, one of Italy’s oldest shipping lines with roots dating back to 1828, has taken on Mauro Salinas as Brand Manager. Salinas has been a long time executive with Contship Italia SpA.
Transportation and government relations expert Jennifer Cohen has been appointed by the Port of Los Angeles as its new Director of Policy and Legislative Affairs. Cohen most recently served as the Director of Government Affairs for the Los Angeles Department of Transportation (LADOT).
McLean, VA, USA: Bruce Ridley (Packaging Corporation of America), has been installed as 2019 Chairman of USA’s biggest shippers’ trade association, the National Industrial Transportation League (NITL).
TT Club has appointed Andrew Peers as the Senior Underwriter for its UK, Benelux and Nordic underwriting team. He joins the Club from RSA, and will report to the Club’s EMEA Regional Director Mark Argentieri.
Bilbao, Spain: Crane brakes and crane upgrades specialist Zeuko has taken on Felipe Ruiz Martín as Project Manager. He has experience in all kinds of port equipment brakes, covering maintenance, inspection and installation, as well as photovoltaic panels electro-hydraulic motors, and has previously worked for leading marques including Kalmar, Mareiport (now part of Kalmar), Sibre Brakes Spain SL and Aenor. "We have taken on another expert," said Eukor’s Managing Director Ismael Bienvenido. "Industrial brakes are core business and we are responsible for technical service and maintenance of port and industrial equipment used in round-the-clock service."
Ceva Logistics has appointed Claus Svane Schmidt as the new head of its LCL product range, with effect from 1st March. Schmidt joined Ceva in early 2018 as Managing Director of its North Asia cluster. In his new post, a key task is to drive ecommerce, digitalization and process automation in the LCL business.
