The first "hook-up" took place on Monday, 22nd January.
This is another big step towards building a "green port." DaChan Bay Terminals started the shore power system project in response to Shenzhen municipal government’s Five-Year-Plan of "Building Low-carbon Green Port in Shenzhen."
With the shore power system, air quality can be improved with vessels switching off its auxiliary engine which will reduce the carbon emission. At the same time, the working environment in the vessel engine room can be largely improved during maintenance with noise reduction.
DaChan Bay Terminals says it is committed to environmental protection and has taken it into consideration throughout all phases of its development including terminal design, construction and operation. All its RTGs are E-RTGs, it operates LNG tractors, etc.
