Terminal San Giorgio unloads giant cranes

Terminal San Giorgio, a multipurpose terminal in the Port of Genoa, has unloaded giant mobile cranes chartered by Fagioli for the purposes of the new Polcevera Viaduct construction project

Terminal San Giorgio unloads giant cranes

The truck-mounted cranes, which were shipped in pieces from The Netherlands by BBC Chatering, can reach a height of up to 130m and lift up to 1,200 tonnes.

 

These will be immediately transferred to and erected at the construction site of the new bridge, to begin the assembly of the decks.

 

The unloading operation, which was one of the most complex in the Port of Genoa, was possible thanks to the collaboration between Terminal San Giorgio Srl and Fagioli Spa, both with expertise in handling exceptional loads.

 

Fagioli was part of the consortium that was responsible for removing the wreckage of the collapsed viaduct (also known as the Morandi Bridge), and is a key sub-contractor for the new viaduct’s construction consortium.
