Traffic increased last year on the back of ‘lockdown 2020’, but the ports are still facing challenges.

Valencia Port Authority (APV) will invest up to €1.1B by 2025. The three ports that it runs – Valencia, Sagunto and Gandia – account for 41% of all Spanish maritime cargo.

The Port of Huelva on Spain’s Atlantic Ocean has issued a tender for the construction and operation of a container and general cargo terminal. This will be located on the South Quay. Bids must be received by 28 January 2022.

Spain’s National Ports Authority (Puertos del Estado) has concluded a series of meetings with the country’s 28 public port authorities, setting financial, environmental and social targets for its 2022 Business Plan.

Cádiz Bay Port Authority (APBC) is to invest €126M by 2025 as part of its multi-year investment plan. The plan has been officially agreed by Puertos del Estado, Spain’s national port agency.

Container traffic at Valenciaport is up 3.34% in H1 2021 compared to the same period in pre-pandemic 2019.
