Chennai Container Terminal (CCT), operated by P&O Ports, has posted strong growth in the current calendar year, outstripping its south Indian rivals in Tuticorin and Kochi by some margin.

Between January and August 2003, CCT handled 308,000 TEU, an increase of 18 percent over the corresponding period of last year. P&O Ports’ director Jimmy Sarbh said a box handling target for Chennai for the current year had been set at 460,000 TEU.
