Ukraine’s big Danube plans

Ukraine plans to increase freight on the Danube by a factor of 20 to 10 mill tons/ year, with the completion of a new fair-way channel in the river delta. As the planned tariff is US$0.3/m 3 of displacement, the new waterway is expected to take traffic from its Romanian counter-part, which currently has a tariff based on US$0.75/m 3 of displacement.
