AP Moller-Maersk’s move to take over P&O Nedlloyd could have significant ramifications for the Euromax development in Rotterdam.

With the EC giving the green light at the beginning of this year, things have finally started to move on Rotterdam’s latest container terminal development. First announced in November 2000, the Euromax terminal, a joint venture between ECT and P&O Nedlloyd, is set to come on stream by the end of 2007, with the first 300m of quay to be completed within 12 months and the complete (Phase 1) length of 1500m by the end of 2007. The facility is touted as Europe’s first, purpose-built Suezmax terminal, able to accommodate ships of up to 12,000 TEU capacity.
