August marks Johor Port’s busiest month ever
NewsJohor Port recorded its busiest month ever in August, handling 102,324 TEU.
Bintulu International Container Terminal (BICT) at Malaysia’s Bintulu Port is to acquire two new container gantry cranes within two years in anticipation of increased throughput, although no timetable has been specified. BICT’s two existing post-Panamax cranes from Impsa were commissioned in February 1999, a few months before it launched full operations.
Container throughput last year dipped by 1.3 per cent to 143,783 TEU, due to Malaysian-owned Hub Line Co moving part of its operations to Muara port in Brunei. BICT is the main gateway into Borneo for international container shipping and the general cargo terminal adjacent to it in Harbour 1 will soon be transferred to a new site near the palm oil jetty facing Inner Harbour 2.
