Container traffic at the Port of Amsterdam increased by 19.4% to 209,928 TEU in the first half of this year, boosted by the launch of the Grand Alliance’s EU5 service in April at the Ceres terminal. This service, which starts in Shanghai, became the third connecting Asia with Amsterdam and provides an extra 5500 TEU/ month. Amsterdam’s container traffic for 2008 as a whole is now forecast to reach reach over 450,000 TEU.
