Lebanese ports ready for Syrian rebuild

The World Bank has estimated that up to US$200B will be needed to reconstruct Syria, once the hostilities end. Over 40 Mt of cargo is likely to be needed for this work, and ports in the Mersin to Aqaba range will all be clamouring for a slice of this business, as volumes of steel, aggregates, construction equipment and containers all soar. While most analysts believe there will be enough cargo for everyone, some ports are better positioned than others.
